Pierce - LTI 105 foot tower
In
1982 the Seagrave 65-foot aerial ladder had reached its
service life span as a front line aerial. It had served
well but its lack of reach, lack of storage and its open
cab all were considered liabilities. After one major downtown
fire it was noted that there were several cracks appearing
in the fly section of the ladder. Upon an official examination
it was discovered that there were 13 cracks in the ladder
sections and turntable. The truck was taken from service
and replaced with this 1982 Pierce - LTI tower. Tower #
4 has a 1500-gpm pump, a 105-ft. towe , 300-gallon tank
and is equipped with 900-feet of 5-inch hose. It carries
all truck company equipment. It also carries 1 and 3/4 attack
lines and a 3-inch blitz line. It runs on all downtown alarms
and commercial or institutional buildings.
