The
ladder truck shown was purchased in 1928 and arrived in
January of the same year. It was equipped with a 500 gallon
a minute Prospect pump, fire hose, ground ladders,
a large life net and other firefighting equipment. For several
years the Seagraves pumper and the Prospect ladder truck
operated as a two piece company and responded to most fires
in the city. In later years the ladder truck was replaced
and sat at the Cambridge City Park as a toy for children
to play on. It was eventually purchased by a local farmer
and turned into a hay wagon. An inglorious end for a rare
piece of firefighting history.
