1945 Dodge pumper

1942 Dodge pumper at 1948 Centennial parade

The above photo shows the 1942 dodge pumper assigned to the Cambridge Defense Supply Depot which was located at the Hoffman - LaRoche plant on the cities West side. At the end of World War Two this apparatus was given to the Cambridge Fire Department. New information has the Dodge as a Dodge - Pirsch Class 500 with a 500-gpm pump. This apparatus saw many years of use with the fire department and it was finally replaced for good in 1957. The vehicle was involved in a traffic accident in 1957 which probably hastened its replacement.

The above photo shows the Dodge pulling a hose cart of the original volunteer fire department. Riding on the apparatus are a couple of older members of the volunteer department.
